Please note that only students who live 2 or more miles from school, have applied, and have been issued an ASD Transportation ID (separate from the school ID) are eligible to ride under the program.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Lincoln Leadership Academy, Executive Education Academy Charter School, Roberto Clemente Charter School, and Allentown Central Catholic High School students who qualify under ACT 372 Charter/Non-public School Students can participate in this partnership. 

ONLY STUDENTS WHO ARE IN GRADES 6-12 AND LIVE 2.0 MILES OR MORE WALKING DISTANCE FROM HOME TO SCHOOL WILL UTILIZE LANTA SERVICES. 

They will be issued the following Transportation ID: 

LANtaBus operators will allow students to board without an ID for the first two weeks of school only. Please be aware that once students receive their Transportation ID from Allentown School District, they must present it to the operator to board at no cost. 

For any questions or concerns about ID arrival, please contact ASD at 484-765-4000. 

Starting this 2024-25 school year, students are now able to also show a photo of their ID on their mobile phone to our LANtaBus operators. Students are still encouraged to always bring their physical ID with them.

Please remember, our operators MUST see the Transportation ID either physically or via mobile phone, or you will not be able to board.

No – all routes available to the public, including the 400 level routes. 

Students can download the Transit App - an app that allows you to plan your trip and track the bus, all in one app.

  2. Choose the appropriate time to depart or arrive
  3. Tap the most convenient option available
  4. Tap GO!

LANTA will drop off students at relevant bus stops within walking distance of their respective schools. Students are responsible for requesting a stop at the appropriate locations.

Please be sure to plan your commute and see where your bus stop is located via the myStop bus tracker or via the Transit app.

No - LANtaBus is a public transportation service for all the Lehigh Valley. Bus operators will safely reach students’ destinations and drop them off at their requested stop.

LANtaBus has safely transported ASD students to their schools for the entirety of the LANTA and ASD partnership. LANTA remains committed to safety with the inclusion of charter schools.

All riders are encouraged to call us at 888-253-8333 if they see something regarding safety concerns or any questions they may have. 

LANTA publishes service alerts on a dedicated Active Service Alerts page found here, via myStop Bus Tracker, via the Transit app. and on major social media platforms. LANTA encourages all riders to regularly check these communication channels to ensure smooth trip planning.

Under this partnership, there is no limit to how many times a student can use their Transportation ID to ride at no cost. Any day of the year that LANtaBus services are operating, students that present their Transportation ID can board freely. 

No - once a student boards with their Transportation ID, they can request a stop at relevant bus stops on all LANtaBus routes to travel to any destination with the LANTA service area.

As riders on LANtaBus, students are expected to follow common bus etiquette:

  • Always let passengers exit first before boarding
  • Have their Transportation ID to be shown physically or via photo
  • Be respectful to other passengers  
  • No yelling, screaming, or running on the bus 
  • Keep aisles always clear 
  • Keep the front seats opened for seniors, people with disabilities and those traveling with service animals
  • Respect all LANTA employees
